No matter how many times you watch this, the jokes and the laughs (subtle and outrageous) never get old. And, of course, the final punchline is still legendary.

A very penetrating and deeply resonant document of ball culture in the 1980s, and more importantly, being your authentic self in a world that wants to erase your existence. You don't have to be gay or transgendered to connect to the people whose stories are told in painfully honest detail: their hopes, dreams, desires, sorrows, past lives, and their futures.

This is definitely a film that deserves the Criterion treatment, and thankfully, it has. It's a very important landmark in LGBTQ cinema history, and a powerfully timeless period piece as well.
