Out 1

Out 1 ★★★

What at first feels like a tedious masturbatory exercise tantamount to never-ending purgatory over time develops into a softly seductive filmic exercise closer to a live art installation than a film with narrative functionality or entertainment value. Out 1 proves to be as draining and exorbitant as it is experimental and ambitious.

Despite my initial misgivings, as the hours passed by, I couldn’t help but succumb to the cinematic Stockholm syndrome so cruelly calculated by the filmmakers. I can’t decide whether this colossal project should be praised or punished.

Either way, it certainly is sui generis.
