First I want to put a warning for rape scenes which I never find tasteful in any film. I'd say this is more a comedy with shocking violence and themes rather than the traditional horror comedy. This brilliantly bleak satire/comedy is as disturbing as it is hilarious and will at least make you uncomfortable often. Despite being super talky and having too many characters, it's actually very hypnotic and does a great job in that it really pulls you into…

This is probably the scariest horror film of the year and easily the best cosmic horrors I’ve ever seen IF ONLY it's trimmed down to under two hours. Seriously though, this film takes a big swing and is extremely ambitious in concept, I’ve never seen anything like this before, but it is held back by a slow pace that is perhaps too fucking slow. Still a great film nonetheless, especially the horror parts which are uncompromising and deeply disturbing. Release the under 2-hour cut!

I had fun, but this movie is exactly what you think it'll be based off the promo materials (for better or worse).

    Video game-esque.

    Definitely interested in this world.

Foxx and Franco always work for me.

    Bit too long.

Incredibly solid film about middle school and how much it can suck. Never saw Eighth Grade but I imagine it's similar (although I'd wager this is the darker of the two).

Wes, heartbroken from a breakup … poor lost soul gets drunk  & ends up in a toilet cubicle next to another lost soul.

Pretty solid single location toilet based movie with J K Simmons who plays the voice of Gnat & Wes who reminded me muchly of Ryan Reynolds; even the mannerisms !!
Alot of talking in this which could feel like a chore especially for a horror movie but there are plenty of silly moments to add a laugh or…

Another moody, atmospheric Norwegian film. This time its centered around young kids discovering that they have powerful abilities. It's all harmless at first when they are playing in the forest together but then things take a serious turn. It's mean spirited and pretty damn dark at times. Bleak as fuck. I dug it alot.

Ryan Kwanten talks to a cosmic being that sounds like JK Simmons(it is indeed JK Simmons) in the neighboring stale at a rest stop for 80 minutes. Purple hues, a dirty restroom, a dick joke, sacrifice, and easily forgettable dialogue...didn't like it at all personally.

It's on Shudder for anyone that's curious.

Compact little indi horror, delivers the same type of premise many indi horrors tackled during and probably inspired by the covid lock downs. A married couple on the rocks head out to a secluded cabin to get their relationship one last shot at salvation. But wouldn't you know it, something horrendous happens to them.
There is no surprise that this film is a metaphor for malfunctioning relationship, but "Metamorphosis" is looking deeper into the psychology of the two involved in…

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Mostly entertaining Lovecraftian bottle horror movie that doesn't have that will actually scare you, but at least you're rarely bored.

On the other hand, it's the best horror movie of 2022 set in a rest area bathroom in which a gloryhole is rarely out of frame.

You wonder what could have been done with a slightly higher budget. The movie hints at terrors but then it's then forced to not show any of them because (I'm guessing) of the lack…

A wonderful piece of cosmic horror/comedy that never fails to amaze me. It's deliciously bleak. There's a fun, tense vibe throughout this thing, which is impressive, given its confined mostly to a single location. The mixing of comedic and serious elements works so wonderfully, further elevated by the ridiculously entertaining characters and their interactions. It really makes excellent use of its single location, limited budget and cast. The film is not particularly scary, but there's some great splattery fun and…

I’m always really interested by movies that explore different family dynamics. This one in particular reminds you that you never really know what someone is going through. It also had a slow build-up, which felt essential for the way this movie slowly peels back the layers of these characters & their relationships with one another.

I don’t know if this counts as a single location movie but I like the way these close-quarters movies (especially common with ones based on plays…

Man, I'm in a weird space with this one because I liked it a lot (clearly from my rating). I was very engrossed with it throughout, the main performances are great (Luciana Paes particularly with her ever shifting, often animalistic role), and I looooved the score. Mm mm good. But near the end (not even the ending, which I'm fine with) but a moment near the end, where a major role reversal of improbable odds is handled off screen and…
