Florence Carala (Jeanne Moreau) and Julien Tavernier (Maurice Ronet) are having an affair and plot to murder Florence's husband Horst (Iván Petrovich) who also happens to be Julien's boss. Julien climbs into his bosses office and stages a suicide, he easily pulls this off due to his history as an ex-soldier and it almost seems like they could have gotten away with it. The only problem is that he left the rope dangling outside the office so he goes back…

Russian Ark 2002
Like many people I sometimes name other films or filmakers in reviews in an attempt to explain any kind of similarities whatever movie I'm writing about might share with another film. Obviously it can often give the reader a little idea of certain elements to expect and if they've already seen the particular film it can be interesting to know if they also felt those certain connections. I have a big admiration for everyone here who is able to write…

Boiling Point 2021
I've mentioned in a review that I work in Hospitality before but I hadn't specifically mentioned the fact that I'm a Chef by trade and I guess it's really just because it was never a subject that really fit into any film I was talking about. Drive My Car 2021
I'm at a bit of a loss for words to be honest but yea Ryusuke Hamaguchi's Drive My Car is Cinema at it's most poetic, meditative and above all engrossing. The performances are greatly subtle and masterful in their realism and I was just sucked in from the get-go and incredibly moved in the end. This is really all I've got for now but what an amazing film, deeply introspective and absolute cinematic perfection on all levels.

Raging Bull 1980
Martin Scorsese had suffered a near fatal cocaine overdose just before this was made and the biography of Jake LaMotta was shown to Scorsese by De Niro during a hospital visit and that's how we eventually got this masterpiece. Scorsese is said to have felt this could have been his last film and it's intensity and rawness can actually be hard to stomach at times but it feels so personal and you just can't look away. The beautiful black and…

Lawrence of Arabia 1962
This film is Based on of the life of T. E. Lawrence who was most famous for leading armies of Arabian tribes in military campaigns going against the Ottoman Empire in World War I. The film was directed by renowned filmaker David Lean and Peter O'Toole starred as Lawrence in one of the greatest performances I've ever seen in a film and I'll go into more detail with that soon. So it was beautifully shot in 70mm with such care…
