I just watched Cure (1997) for the first time. Directed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Cure is about a series of violent murders with the only link being an x carved on the victim's neck. The murderer doesn't remember doing the calling and there appears no obvious motive. A detective must try to solve the killings. I just finished watching the film Cuties (2020) on Netflix. Directed by Maïmouna Doucouré, the film stars Fathia Youssouf, as Amy, an 11 year old girl torn between her conservative, traditional family and a group of dancers at school who call themselves the cuties. The Fisher King

Terry Gilliam's masterfully directs this beautiful film about a despondent former radio DJ and his relationship with a mentally disturbed homeless man. Jeff Bridges is excellent in the lead role, with a performance that is layered, humane and believable. Robin Williams gives one of his best performances and brings humour and heart to the role. The screenplay is intelligent, funny and heartfelt. The Fisher King is a wonderful masterpiece that is a joy to watch and has now become one of my favourite films.
