AFI Fest #2:
Myroslav Slaboshpytskiy's Ukrainian Sign Language film was the first thing I saw on at AFI Fest on Friday. The Tribe a powerful example of what the form is capable of. The movie is incredibly brutal, but it is earned over its runtime, as are Slaboshpytskiy's long takes. I was pleasantly surprised by how much of the film I was able to follow despite the total lack of subtitles.
