STEVEN’s review published on Letterboxd:
John and the Hole was one of my most anticipated from this weekend's festival lineup, and it did not disappoint. For a directorial debut, this was insanely well-crafted (that aspect ratio was gorgeous), and Charlie Shotwell's performance unsettled me to my core. This is definitely one of the more captivating thrillers I've seen over the past few years, and one of the most original. The ambiguity works for the most part, but some subplots could've been cut in order to make this feel a bit more cohesive. I really want to watch Dexter after this; Michael C. Hall DELIVERED with his limited screen time.
Feels like something A24 would put out.
