Realizing and appreciating each other's struggle with loneliness and desire comes not from some intense, wrought deliberation between the characters. Much is left unsaid during the final embrace of Rohmer's moral tales , in fact. The emotional and intimate chasm between them is bridged not by any display of fortitude on Frédéric's part, rather it is his surrender…
