Not sure what the hype is all about: Justine Bieber plays Baby, the granddaughter of Elisabeth Shue plays his love interest, Jon Hamm tries his hand at a greasy version of Pulp Fiction's John Travolta, and the music tries what Quentin Tarantino managed with Reservoir Dogs/Pulp Fiction/Jackie Brown.
It's a combination of "cool" stuff that should work on paper, executed without cool. And no, Ansel Elgort is not Ryan Gosling. And no, this is not "Drive" "but with fun". This is Fast and Furious, without the steroids, starring Justin Bieber in concert, in a car.
2 1/2 stars for Dave Brubeck on the soundtrack and, why not, sunny Atlanta.
