OPPENHEIMER is by far nolan's crowning achievement. 3 well-crafted hours of tension and terror. a story that's certainly not easy to tell. what's accomplished here is truly something special, both a historical biopic and a psychological thriller. the rivalary and switching perspectives between oppenheimer and strauss are so well-done. the visual language is immaculate as expected, but the score, brilliant and impactful it is, drowned out the dialogue at times. and to no one's surprise, absolutely phenomenal performances from murphy, downey jr., and blunt.
it was like a string of very cool action sequences, way too many corny and unfitting jokes, some signature sam raimi shots every now and then, but with absolutely no characterisation in mind. regardless of the terrible script, elizabeth olsen absolutely carried from start to finish and it was fun to watch.
great action, great cameos, great mid-credit scene, the fans will be very pleased. if it has better writing it would be the best mcu film without a doubt
