Sony and Columbia Pictures are most definitely riding the Spider-Man wave right now. Following on from the very respectable Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and the impressive Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) comes their latest offering Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019). By successfully continuing on from the chemistry and fun of the 2017 movie and raising the bar in visual effects, as the 2018 film did, this new movie takes your friendly neighbourhood superhero to new heights setting up the next stage of the MCU.
There’s a few nicely worked out twists and turns with a couple of unexpected surprises thrown in for good measure. Tom Holland cements his name in Spider-Man folklore as he continues to shine. Marisa Tomei, Jake Gyllenhaal and Samuel L. Jackson provide a solid support cast whilst Jacob Batalon returns as the brilliant and funny Ned. If Avengers: Endgame (2019) marked the end of an era then Spider-Man: Far From Home definitely succeeds in seting up a new one.
