I wanted to like Ant-Man And The Wasp a lot more than I actually did, honest! It had some inspired moments that I genuinely enjoyed, really! But, alas, it seemed for every memorable moment or sequence in it, there followed a dry, low-energy stretch that dragged on for 15 minutes (at least), where the film completely just went through the motions, hitting standard, expected plot beats without leaving much of an impression, becoming mired in its own overly convoluted, over-populated plot (maybe Thanos should've wiped out half the characters here too?), and proving that the relative superiority of the original (IMHO) was more just due to whatever leftover Edgar Wright-isms that auteur left behind on its screenplay, as opposed to studio Yes-man Peyton Reed bringing anything worthwhile to that project.
I mean, I respect wanting a lighter palate cleanser for the MCU after all the heavy drams of Infinity War, but Guardians Of The Galaxy, this is not. That being said, like I wrote earlier, there are good aspects to it, including some genuinely funny (maybe even hilarious at times?) bits of comic relief, along with the fiilm having some inventive fun playing around with physics and eye-catching visuals in various manners, moments where I caught agonizingly tantalizing glimpses of the movie this should've been, to the point where the good material almost redeemed the overall experience, but it just wasn't quite enough for me to say I really enjoyed this one on the whole.
Final Score: 7.25
