    MY MUM SAW THIS AND WAS LIKE IT CUTS A LITTLE CLOSE TO HOME AND THEN WE FINALLY SAW IT AND I'M LIKE WELL MIA AND SEB ARE SUPER PRETTY AND SUPER TALENTED AND ACHIEVE THEIR DREAMS AFTER ONLY SIX YEARS! SIX FUCKING YEARS. SO NO, NOT REALLY CLOSE TO HOME AT ALL EXCEPT MAYBE FOR THE BITS WHERE THEY CRY ABOUT THE PAIN AND THE FAILURE THEY'RE FEELING OH SO DEEPLY BUT THAT DOESN'T RING TRUE BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT FAILURES AND THEIR PAIN IS ONLY FLEETING. BABIES.

    OTHERWISE I LIKED IT.

    Pretty much the whole film’s ambition and failure is rendered in their CG Grand Moff Tarkin. A bold idea... that doesn’t quite work. 


    There’s a really interesting film somewhere in here, and, on this rewatch, it became very frustrating.  Collaboration, moral compromise, the bloody price of violent rebellion - this is new thematic territory for cinematic Star Wars.
