Wax, or The Discovery of Television Among the Bees

Wax, or The Discovery of Television Among the Bees ★★★★

a faux-documentary cyber conspiracy flick about the ghosts of US empire's war dead as vengeful swarm. eerily predictive of the age of the drone strike. extremely cohesive on the symbolic level despite its meandering conspiracy form, which makes it almost meditative to watch. sinister & unsettling & fantastic

awash to me in what felt like literary resonances (both predecessors/influences, and works that postdate it): ballard, pynchon, borges, eco, house of leaves, cyclonopedia, china mieville's short fiction, maybe even dennis cooper?
