Miami Vice ★★★½

I think you can see the similarities between this and Mann's Heat from 11 years earlier. It's all about the details and precision of their words and actions. There are some interesting film-making choices too - seems to be entirely shot handheld, which gives it a documentary feel, and the sound design seems to emphasise the incidental noises such as footsteps on gravel. The dialogue is unapologetic and occasionally difficult to decipher but I suppose that helps it's authenticity. I'm quite keen to see it again to allow myself to absorb the details.
