This movie makes me want to go buy a big bag of Doritos and eat them in the car.

This movie is incredible. Radiates with Big Sandler Energy. I was glad it was raining, because I had my umbrella which have me something to squeeze to death for two straight hours to release the tension. Move over, Ten Commandments; there’s a new best Passover movie ever.

Queen Anne puking into a bucket on her right while almost simultaneously filling her mouth with pieces of a cake sitting on her left is cinema’s most aspirational figure. Long live the Queen.

    Mad Max: Fury Road

    ★★★★★

Tired: Mad Max: Fury Road has this century’s best car chases.

Wired: Mad Max: Fury Road is this century’s most Biblical and spiritual film.

(Side note: They built all these outrageous vehicles for this movie. They all worked. Where are they now?)

Actor Rick Dalton and stuntman Cliff Booth meet producer Marvin Schwarz at the Musso & Frank Grill. Marvin has what should be an attractive offer for Rick: The chance to star in Italian Westerns — and play the hero again. Rick is not impressed. In fact, he’s devastated. He thinks this means he’s washed up. As soon as Rick’s outside, he breaks down in tears.

Tarantino moves the camera low and pans up. The Musso & Frank Grill sign looms over the…

Apart from one twist being fairly obvious from the get-go, I can’t find one false move in this. Absolutely stellar in every way; performances, direction, writing, production design, editing, music. I’ve been hearing for years how great this movie is, and if anything, its fans undersold it. Also, tomorrow I’m going to buy a bunch of undershirts and suspenders. That is a look.

How long do you think I could blast “IHOP Parking Lot” in my local IHOP’s parking lot before they call the cops on me?

  • Pulp Fiction

    Pulp Fiction

    ★★★★★

A film full of important life lessons about foot massage ethics, how to hide priceless heirlooms as a prisoner of war, what to do if someone at the party overdoses on heroin, and best practices for cleaning brain from car upholstery. Glad I saw this movie young so I learned all the stuff early.

  • Jackie Brown

    Jackie Brown

    ★★★★★

I like how imperfect these people are. Max Cherry isn’t a badass gangster in a black and white suit; he’s a schlub with thinning hair. Jackie Brown isn’t a master criminal; before her big confrontation with a gun runner she practices her tough guy quick draw. Louis Gara forgets where he parked his car at the mall in the middle of a robbery. They’re just people! I think some of Tarantino’s later movies, great as they are, could use a…

The Lonely Island Presents: The Unauthorized Bash Brothers Experience

    ★★★★★

I urge the Lonely Island in the strongest possible terms to add 10 minutes and 7 seconds of literally anything — a test pattern, a black screen, literally anything — to the end of The Unauthorized Bash Brothers Experience so that it qualifies for the Best Picture Oscar it so richly deserves and will obviously win.

Everything I know about supreme executive power and its derivations I learned from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
