Ivan Nagar’s review published on Letterboxd:
After a long time I watched a film without knowing anything at all about it, not even the genre and it was really good for a film like Thelma that offers such a unique take on this supernatural subgenre. Joachim Trier's direction is excellent and Thelma is overall a technically superb film but it loses its stride a few times and the short runtime of just over 90 minutes also feels tedious as a result.
It's hard to consider my issues with the film as it's shortcomings as a lot of the pacing does seem intentionally slow-burning but still unfortunately I was taken out of it for most of the third act which, while not horrible in the end was still quite bland and meh. Bland is also an adjective that describes the whole film really well, in both a good and a bad sense of the word.
