"I'll lick the stamps."

"You can't buy off unhappiness with pills."

"We scratch and we claw, but only at the air, only at each other, and for all of it, we never budge an inch."

I was intending to be in bed hours ago but, y'know, Christmas; then Twitter reminded me that today (US time, which I basically live on) is the day Psycho took place on… how could I resist. And maybe I needed this movie to catch me off guard like that for once, unplanned as it were (it usually forms part of my October/Halloween viewing)… I'm even wondering if I was in a better frame of mind for it watching so close to The Silence of the Lambs, which it obviously shares inspiration with. I forgot how great the dialogue in this movie is. It's still more about the Herrmann score than anything for me, and I'm still more fascinated by the Gus Van Sant re-do (I'll likely watch that and the sequels again ASAP in the new year)… but this time around I really got a taste of my original love of this that led me to so many other cinematic wonders…
