"Love does much, but bourbon does everything."
I kind of forgot how Samuel Fuller, especially in his earlier work (because it was so ahead of its time), had that way of just physically waking you up with his visceral style. The opening of this grabbed me so much more than I was expecting. Of course the racial stuff is fascinating for its time too. I need to watch a lot more of Fuller's work 'cos I've really not seen much of it (Naked Kiss, Shock Corridor, and White Dog are the only ones I think, or the ones that have stuck with me).
