  • Everything Everywhere All at Once

    Everything Everywhere All at Once

"We're just going around in circles."

"This is the alpha verse mission to take it back to the way it use to be."

    "That doesn't make any sense."

"Joy? Why do you look so stupid?"

"I'm sorry… you're still hung up that I like girls in this world?"

    "Sucked… into … a bagel."

"Please be kind, especially when we don't know what's going on."

    "It's too late."
"Maybe there is some discovery out there that will make us feel…

  • Vertigo

"One final thing I have to do and then I'll be free of the past…"

"If I let you change me will it do it?"

"If I had the nerve, I'd stay and lie, hoping that I could make you love me again, as I am for myself... and so forget the other and forget the past. But I don't know whether I have the nerve to try…"

I don't have a lot to add to my sort of crummy…

  • Prometheus

"I can't create life, what does that say about me…"

I only scanned my last review of this but I saw enough to know I didn't make as big of a comparison to Contact as I should've. Literally those first few minutes have them juxtaposing the short name "Ellie" and the surname "Dr. Halloway" that tells me the comparison to the Sagan/Druyan story was not coincidental. I adore how it throws reference points back that way as much as it…

  • Whistle Down the Wind

    Whistle Down the Wind

My old review is one of my faves and most liked here so go and read that, I have nothing to add except how angry I am at this point that this hasn't been remastered or released at all in HD, not even last year for its 60th anniversary, what's going on, whoever owns it? Especially after watching the very similar Tiger Bay which is so less known yet got a kinda royal treatment. Anyway happy easter, also listen to the cast recording of the musical because it's just as impossibly perfect and heart shattering a relic at this point.

  • The Diary of Anne Frank

    The Diary of Anne Frank

"You know, we're going to forget how to dance. When we get out we won't remember a thing."

"We have problems here that no other people our age have ever had."

"Stop it! You're spoiling the whole invasion!"

    "…I think myself outside…"

"For the past two years we have lived in fear. Now we can live in hope."

The ebb and flow of pacing and mood in this is kind of flawless. I had a couple of worries going in…

  • Grosse Pointe Blank

    Grosse Pointe Blank

    25 years*, man, 25.

(tomorrow, today was just more convenient for me to celebrate)

    (wrote more previously)

  • Suddenly, Last Summer

    Suddenly, Last Summer

"Funny, there's no word… lose your parents and you're an orphan, lose your only son and you are … nothing."

"Most peoples' lives, what are they but trails of debris, each day more debris, more debris, long, long trails of debris, with nothing to clean it all up but finally death."

I wasn't sure at first if this was gonna connect as much as I wanted it to ('cos what a fucking perfect title before you even get to the…

  • Tiger Bay

    Tiger Bay

"Don't let your emotions run your life. Sometimes it isn't worth it."

"Stop it! You must never hit a lady."
    "I'm NOT a lady!"

    "Why didn't you tell them?"
    "I wanted that gun."

    "Why do you always lie?"
"I wouldn't if you didn't shout at me. You frighten me."

"Take a long time. Take a long, long time."

    "Well you've got your man."
    "Yes, I guess I have."

In the old commentary which I listened to the other day (with…

  • Blazing Saddles

    Blazing Saddles

    "They said you was hung."
    "And they was right."

"My work here is done. I'm needed elsewhere now. I'm needed wherever outlaws rule the West… wherever innocent women and children are afraid to walk the streets… wherever a man cannot live in simple dignity… wherever a people cry out for justice."
"All right, you caught me. To speak the plain truth, it's getting pretty damn dull around here."

"Nowhere special… I always wanted to go there."

    This rewatch was…

  • Fly Away Home

    Fly Away Home

Happy Mothers Day to the mother of all movies about becoming, and the many ways of being/loving, a mother <3 I adore my old review of this, I said everything else there, but this time around it seemed more perfect than ever.

  • Torch Song Trilogy

    Torch Song Trilogy

"I'm not mad I'm jealous. You realise in all the years they've been married the only time they were ever separated was when ma went into hospital for that operation. And what did daddy do? He slept on a chair in the living room. He wouldn't even get into bed without her. And the way they always made us feel like we were the two most important. smartest, most talented, handsomest… And it kills me to think that they look…

  • Spencer

"Not only did I rescue it from a scare crow, Im talking to it…"

    "M'am I will help you."
    "How can you help me?"

This is my The Crown. I'm so not royalist though I do have memories of being 8 years old and standing on a bridge waiting for Fergie and Andrew to ride through York so I do know the feeling but I really didn't even think it'd be that but I saw the Christmas scene as a…
