This was an over indulgent, wannabe Scorcese “epic” that only really got interesting the last five minutes. We got an initial party scene lasting 25 minutes, giving these huge actors larger than life “entrances” to boost to their egos, which they definitely don’t need.
I feel like everyone who worked on this film truly believed it would be the best thing to ever grace our screens; and the homage and alternative history nod to Singin’ in the Rain some clever attempt to link the screenplay and give it meaning. It didn’t work for me.
