Syaoran’s review published on Letterboxd:
I was right here... the whole time. None of you could see me. Nobody could see me.
I finally gave this series a shot after being on my watchlist for several months. It was great but definitely more of a drama than horror. I actually felt grief more than fear after every episode.
I heard and read comments from a lot of people comparing it with 'This is Us' and I could now see why. Although, one might argue that The Haunting of Hill House handled certain aspects (e.g characters, plot, and direction) way better.
There were not much use of jumpscares all throughout, but when they did, it was really scary. The choice to put ghosts at the background in very episode was very clever. Highly recommend to watch this at night.
