There are action movies and then there is T2: Judgment Day. While I have not seen either movie in the Avatar franchise, if James Cameron had decided to make Terminator the franchise he stuck with instead I would be a happy man. There are a ton of aspects that are absolutely great about this - practical effects and stunts chief among them. Even the CGI when used was well done respective to its time period and does not…

Few movies are as iconic as The Good, the Bad and the Ugly and it has earned every bit of its reputation and every minute of its run time. The film feels epic in scope and the tale unfolds at a brilliant pace to where there is so much going on besides the main plotline. Leone and Marricone are masters of their craft and come together to make possibly the quintessential Western with this one.

The life and involvement of one Rudolph Hess within the Nazi state is an intriguing one. At a glance the name was recognizable and as the story unfolds you begin to realize why. I found the movie to be a bit detached, intentionally so, but to a point that it actually made Rudolph a bit harder to read. I think after having looked a bit into the life of Hess, I now have a clearer picture of what…

One more Oscar Best Picture to go, which is the ever-elusive 'The Zone of Interest.' This is a very sexualized reimagination of The Frankenstein's Monster sort of tale with Emma Stone showing off the performances of one of year's best. It is no real surprise as to how overtly sexual this movie is once you gain familiarity with the Director, Yorgos Lanthimos. In Lanthimos' filmography you see how he stunts the interactions of people in a seeming alternate…

Rightfully one of the most respected films of all time. The color of each shot is so pretty with incredible cinematography to go along with it. The music is sensational and feels as epic as a Star Wars film, so on point and fitting for the film which plays really well with the beauty of each shot. Then to tie it all together we have the absolutely enigmatic performance from Peter O'Toole. I'd seen only one from with…

Christopher Nolan has made the best case thus far in 2023 for a Best Picture Oscar. This is profound, and great to behold. This is a movie best seen in theatre and I don't say that lightly because I enjoy a living room watch as much as the next guy. The nuclear test scene on its own is worth the price of admission. This has spectacular editing, great storytelling/script and a tremendous pace. This solidifies Nolan's place as a cinematic giant in my eyes.
