That talk that this is a perfect screenplay is true. This story hums along at a perfect rate and drops another interesting spin, detail or piece of dialogue to always keep me locked in and engaged. The story had weight to it where actions were meaningful. The story is a great mystery that has you thinking about it. The characters are interesting and performed incredibly well! I have very little criticisms of this movie!

This will certainly spur me to watch more praised classics that have longer run times. It's a tale as old as time, I hold off watching because it's 3 hours or more and chastise myself after the fact for having missed out on a masterpiece for so long. Also having listened to rap a good bit throughout my life I'm happy to finally know the source material for the slang "yeyo" and "sosa."All the personal business aside,…

I thought this was well told, well shot and pretty witty/smart. Thematically its really quite crystal clear what's all at stake with this story and I quite liked that - what are you willing to give up for you morals or greed and the central characters make it quite clear in the final third. I loved how the story was always subtly leaning towards the twist and that nothing felt like vital information was missing for us the audience to deduce anything for ourselves. Definitely feels ahead of its time! -

First and foremost, I started enjoying and understanding this a little more once I turned closed captioning. No disrespect to our English speakers across the pond but they can be hard to understand sometimes. Aside from that this movie is not quite as crazy as a Jodorowski movie but definitely has the psychedelic feel bleeding into it more and more as the film progresses. This movie also has the distinction of being beautifully shot, colorful and interesting to…

This is a bit of a spell bounding movie, the mystery keeps you at just at arms length until it's ready for the big climax. The acting and softcore intimate scene between Sutherland and Christie were a bit striking and added to the presentation which has you contemplating what is off with this story. The world feels off-kilter in a sort of way that is hard to describe but once the ending unfolds it all seems to make sense in an inexplicable way. Great cinematography and really creepy and hard-hitting ending really put this film on the map as one to watch. -

There's only one noticeable negative for this film which was the overbearing sound track of this film. While the songs on there own aren't bad it felt like it overshadowed a lot of scenes it played over. Now the story and obviously Nicolas Cage's performances really shined through with this movie and are more than enough to make this very worthwhile.
