With a hugely satisfying blend of theoretical sci-fi, whimsical spirituality and deceptive lightness, Junta Yamaguchi has created a technical wonder that is no doubt one of best of 23 i've seen. River is a kind of film i always suck for , it's a cute time loop comedy that will easily touch your heart. How Yamaguchi finds time to let every member of the cast shine is a feat in itself. It bcome a leap day special kino for me.

an absurdist, with tantalisingly twisted Frankenstein rizz, the more outlandish the story becomes, the more grounded it is in women’s seemingly eternal struggles around power, selfhood and constricting social norms. Stone sells it at every turn. This is either a sweet fairy tale or a dystopia not for the faint of heart.

a stylistically tangible cinema, as if accidentally discovered in the archives of documentary footage, a dry study of the nature of evil and the creation of an art object about the horror of cohabitation between death and a beautiful garden; the zone of interest stays relevant n vital depending on how much we head towards absolutism n extremism.
