Short Animation - In this six-minute theatrical release from Pixar Animation Studios, writer-director Doug Sweetland voices his own animated characters: the magician Presto DiGiotagione and his rabbit assistant Alec Azam. The magic man's tricks revolve around his "Hat of Wonder," from which he pulls Alec. But the poor bunny hasn't been fed, so he decides to sabotage the act till he gets his carrot. Can't say any of the gags are new. The story plays like Bugs Bunny in 1942's "Case of the Missing Hare." But Pixar's animation is tops, as always. Good fun for a younger audience, and it earned Sweetland an Oscar Nomination for Best Short Film, Animated.
