I think the electric Jesus character could have been explored a lot more. An extremely compelling movie that takes some unsatisfying directions. In that sense it seems really special, because what other movie makes you care about it so much that you somehow want to get in it and make it better, give more coherent decisions for the characters to make, and tidy up some of the editing?
That being said, I did enjoy the montage of Joe and Rizzo in Florida surrounded by middle-aged fans.

There's a skilfully-managed chaos to this film I liked very much. A lot of the frames kind of look like the types of pictures you'd take with a disposable camera on a school trip - what I mean by that is odd compositions, usually involving some blurry object too close to the camera or something, that nevertheless convey a sense of fun and event-ness. The plot seems no have no real centre yet it just bumbles along nicely, punctuated by truly beautiful moments of euphoria: "It was wonderful. The most wonderful feeling I've ever had in my life".

What is this weird period in Woody Allen's career, when his movies looked like elaborate H&M adverts, sponsored by European tourism ministries, and had little more plot than your average cable soft porn? Why didn't anybody say something at the time?

A slow-burning, proto-slacker, anti-psychiatry joy. If I could go anywhere in real or imaginary history after this pandemic is over, I would go to Charlie's, downtown.
