Film, Comics, and Video Game nut...
Proof that the 2016 remake/reboot failure had nothing to do with being an all female cast and everything to do with poor writing. McKenna Grace is a revelation as Egon Spengler’s granddaughter and the film as a whole has more heart than a Care Bear reunion. I rolled all the tears.
It’s a strange beast, attempting to create something fresh and new delivers a film that feels nothing like a Matrix movie and in doing so will alienate the fan base but may also bring in new fans. The signature “green” look is totally absent as are the physics defying set pieces. I’m not sure if I like or dislike Matrix Resurrections and shockingly it might be a worse film than Revolutions and Reloaded.
Not since Christopher Reeve first played Superman has an actor truly embodied a superhero, until now. Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman is earnest and believable. Is the film perfect? no, but it's few flaws are easily forgotten by the obvious heart and soul poured into this movie. Long live DC.
PS: The world needs a prequel/spin off movie focused on the Amazons and starring Robin Wright and Connie Nielsen.
