The release of Ramones’s first album in 1976 is considered the birth of punk rock. However, when Legs McNeil and John Holmstrom founded the magazine "Punk" in 1975 in a Connecticut’s basement, the rebelliousness and music that had eliminated guitar solos and denied any saleable attitude were already a feature of MC5, The Velvet Underground and the Stooges, to name just a few.
