stanley kubrick has a way of making every second of his films mesmerizing. from the haunting score to the beautiful cinematography, 2001 was seriously one of the greatest films i've ever had the privilege to see. i got this on dvd at a thrift store a little less than a year ago and i can't believe i put it off for so long. if you're reading this and (like me) you're not a big fan of sci-fi, or the 2 and a half hour runtime intimidates you, DON'T let that stop you from experiencing this brilliant piece of filmmaking. now that he's making his third(!) entry in my top 10 of all time, i'm realizing that maybe people weren't kidding when they said kubrick was the greatest director of all time.
