Rey ★★★★

Niles Atollah buried the celluloid for his film Rey in his own backyard - after two weeks, some parts were damaged beyond repair, while other parts looked like they were at least a century old.

The fragmented celluloid is a perfect metaphor for the practice of writing history: all these stories and different accounts differ, intertwine, depend on the power relations between the rulers and the ruled. Decay is both a linear and a circular process: with every year passing we are losing time, but at the same moment we are always returning to the same starting point: our own subjective experience.
