E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial 1982
This would be botched in so many ways in 2022. The characters would be winking to the audience, we’d be forced to sit through tedious world-building of the alien race, and overall would lack any sense of earnestness.
40 years later, it seems like kids respond to this film, and I find that genuinely heartwarming. -
