I didn’t wasn’t the biggest fan of this movie when it first came out. I thought the human story was boring and Bryan Cranston was wasted in his performance. Then, I watched the movies that followed this.

Now this movie is better.

This movie is essentially a remake of the first one. Jokes that are 30 years old aren’t that funny the second time around.

Watch instead: Jay and Silent Bob Reboot. It’s slightly better, plus you have the added bonus of not watching Eddie Murphy embarrass himself.

I wanted to really like this, but I could only manage mild ambivalence. It was fun to see the two title leads fight, but it got old after the second round and a slew of ridiculous (even for a movie of this caliber) scenes. Too many monsters were crammed into this, and once again the human part of the story was an absolute snooze-fest. 

Watch instead: Shin Godzilla

While better than the theatrical version, no amount of re-tooling, re-shooting, or re-editing could fix the main issue of this movie: the script.
