After watching Jodorowsky's debut, I was surprised to find that his follow-up, revered by so many critics and arthouse aficionados alike, was far more awkward. I find little poetry or even excitement in its cycles of sex and violence, and whatever drama is supposed to emit from the director's messianic persona only translates as unintentional humor. What I'm left with is a movie whose aimlessness outweighs its visual intrigue. Is it worthless? No, it's just annoying.
