    Friday the 13th Part 2

For this marathon, I made the trip to a cabin in the remote backwoods of Missouri. Currently staying in a 350 square foot cabin on a quiet lake. Going to watch my favorite Fridays in random order on a 24inch box TV with the lake to be seen in the background. It’s grainy and even has the DVD player built in so you couldn’t get more nostalgic if you tried. Its…

    Evil Dead Rise

    Now that’s a HORROR movie!
Caught an early screening of Rise and it exceeds all of my expectations. I was all in on it just five minutes into the film! The story, setting, and characters (surprisingly) worked well as everything felt cohesive.Β It is easily as twisted, gory, and mean-spirited as those before it. Rise has an appealing level of originality too it while still including the classic Evil Dead tropes, as well as other horror film fan-service.Β
    I may be…

    Point Break

I put this off for far too long
    Point Break
Β was a breath of fresh air with its extreme sports aspect. The film provided some unique action that made it stick out from the rest of that era. I never knew what to expect while the Ex-Presidents and Utah were surfing or jumping out of plans. The cast was excellent and the characters were surprising complex. Overall this was a great watch and I wish I’d seen it sooner. If you’re weird like me and haven’t seen it, I highly recommend Point Break

    The Holdovers

Much more than a Christmas movie, The Holdovers is a comedic drama that successfully dives deep into nearly every state of the human condition.
The film proposes a strong but familiar setup in the first act before cleverly pulling the rug to change directions in the second. From then on, there is such a small scale focus on the three main characters that you are able to experience their every of emotion with them. I have seen some Paul Giamatti…

    Halloween Ends

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Evil died, on Halloween night of 2018. It didn’t even exist in this story of Haddonfield.

By being too bold, David Gordon Green and his team selfishly betrayed the legend that made them. Kudos for wanting to be different, but not to end an era. The franchise deserves better than this. Green and his team’s previous work deserved better than this. Halloween Ends shits on the stories, characters, and themes that are a staple of the horror genre. As a…
