    The first half was full of suspense, scares, and charm, but I thought the film ultimately ran out of steam at the end, mostly due to an exposition-heavy monologue and an unsatisfying ending, both of which didn't make a lick of sense to me. But I'm definitely going to watch this again soon because I can't stop thinking about it.

    Freaked failed to resonate with me when I first saw it 15 years ago, and it only dawned on me recently that I somehow hadn't given a film in which Randy Quaid plays a barker who runs a mutant freak farm--featuring oddities that include Bobcat Goldthwait as a human sock puppet and Mr. T as a bearded lady--a second look. It turns out that this is one of the most overlooked comedies of all time, and deserving of a far bigger cult following.
