I saw First Man three times now and I still love it. I’m glad that I had the chance to see it in on IMAX in the first week. Usually I’m a bit distracted by aspect ratio changes. I admire how Chazelle handled this here. The change in ratio, detail and the sudden absence of sound made the lunar scene even more breathtaking.
I miss these types of blockbusters. Great world building, story-driven but still enough character development, great score and a large amount of practical sets. This came out the same year as The Lord of the Rings:
The Fellowship of the Ring. Name two blockbusters of this year that still will be beloved in twenty years from now. Venom? :D
