Even though I've given pretty generously high scores to most of the MCU movies, I haven't really been it's hugest fan over the past few years. Many of the films in the series, while they mostly deliver to their audience, have never really had much of a lasting impression on me. The incredible Charlie Kaufman × Spike Jonze duo both started their illustrious careers with this blazingly original masterpiece. This is essentially an existential fantasy, yet, it's also a hilarious comedy. The comedic performances are some of the best I've seen across the board. Kaufman's dialogue is incredibly idiosyncratic, funnny, and all around brilliant. I could watch this film 100 times in a row on repeat and never get bored.

This story is closer to humanity than…

I've been dying to see this film for what seems like ages, and I finally watched it on the Criterion Channel last night. And oh man, it did not disappoint. I love and cherish the few films that make me so tense and uncomfortable that I start exhibiting physical symptoms. For almost the entire film, my toes were curled, my stomach was churning, and my breathes were short. If the (absolutely friggin' brilliant) director, Cristian Mungiu had decided to give…
