Brent Vanhomwegen’s review published on Letterboxd:
The most shocking thing about this movie is that is was written by Jeff Nathanson. That one guy who single handedly killed the Pirates franchise and made a copy paced script of The Lion King.
Catch Me If You Can was one of the few Spielberg movies I still had to see. It was being recommended by a bunch of people and I eventually caved by seeing it on Netflix.
This movie was so, so good. The way it looks, how the story came together, the dialogue and above all, the acting. Everything clicked together. I wasn't expecting a bad movie, not at all. But I didn't expect it to be this good. I was invested from the very first frame until the very last.
The thing that stood out was the way Spielberg directed it. He has such a knack for choosing the perfect angle and holding that angle for a long time. And it always works. I absolutely loved it and I hate myself for not seeing it any earlier...
