Film School Drop Outs: Week 33 - Auteurs - Federico Fellini
I have seen two of Fellini's films this year, this and La Strada.
8½ is straying slightly from his other work upon looking him up. It is a semi-autobiographical film about his life and it doesn't have his muse, Giulietta Masina (who usually appears in his other films like La Strada and Nights of Cabiria).
This film really cemented his status as an all time great director in my head. It's a great film about cinema.
I thought about how this film is about cinema and I want to make a list of all these films about making films.
Anyway, 8½ is great. I gave it a 4.5 because filmstruck goofed on me a bunch when I tried to watch it but I changed it to a 5 because that is probably unfair to this really great film.
I hope to check out La Dolce Vita soon.
