this had no right to be as good as it was but guess what? it was!!!
this has my second favorite score of the year, has amazing acting, action, and scenery, and is overall a blast. one of the most fun movies of this year. way different compared to anything Ti West has done before, but it's really interesting to see him try another genre. the sound mixing in this was great, like, every gunshot sounded like it was coming from far away. James Ransome legit just looks like a Pixar villain, so I don't know want to say about that. it also has one of the coolest opening credits sequences in a while. after the Western genre was revived and almost immediately staled back in 2015, this movie shows that not every Western has to be a sprawling 3 hour epic (sorry Innaritu,) but instead focusing on a single location and character development is more important.
in other words, 4 1/2 stars for the dog.
