    As Tom Cruise said in a Playboy interview during the 1990s, you do have to remove yourself from any political worldview to enjoy the splendours of Top Gun.

    While art such as Top Gun are inherently political, he was certainly right. The film merely uses the military as a device to deliver spectacle, and sure does it.
