Still not perfect. Still one of the most personal and meaningful movies I’ve seen.
Ugly cried again.
There are some interesting and personal themes and ideas toyed with here, and certainly a handful of scenes are exciting (the smoke, the coffee, the mushrooms, the music), but the presentation is just disappointingly underwhelming. I’m not going to disregard the fact that all of today has gone by at a snail’s pace, so that may have something to do with it, but every five minutes I just kept waiting for the movie to be over with. A real bummer…
Back again watching black and white indie short films on YouTube and wow this was amazing. It’s a story that I can’t imagine I’ll ever get tired of: what do people do when they know the inevitable is coming? The 15 minute runtime absolutely flew by and that last shot was fantastic. Really glad I randomly saw an Instagram comment plugging this lol.

The asterisk is the missed opportunities and the “Marvel-isms” we’ve come to unfortunately expect—poorly conceived one-liners that betray both mood and character. The missed opportunities here are mostly just how bland the universes we visit are. They boil down to one insignificant change and some fan service. Why didn’t we spend any time in funky worlds??
Other than that, this movie actually ended up being more creative than I was expecting. The magic was utilized far beyond…
