“Give me something to scream about.”
Friday the 13th Part III may be slightly formulaic and very similar to what came before it, but is definitely as good as Part II if not slightly better. As well as marking the first appearance of the now iconic hockey mask, it leans more heavily into the fun side of slashers by filling its runtime with consistent kills and plenty of blood; still obviously mindless but far more self-assured and entertaining than where the series began. It’s not especially innovative but it knows what it’s doing and it does it pretty well, continuing with the elements that work best and giving fans what they want to see.
