Alrighty! I'm actually back to do my full review for the latest summer-like blockbuster this March, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice!" By the way, NO SPOILERS, so you guys have the green light to read.
This was one of those movies that I was anticipating throughout the entire year because for a 1 specific reason: Watching Batman and Superman kicking the living fuck out of each other. The trailers Warners Bros. gave us were goosebump-inducing that I got so pumped to see two legendary combatants going into a long-awaited battle to find out who can become the heavyweight champion in the DC Universe. But, the BIG question was "Will Batman v Superman deliver the promises or will it fall from grace?" And my personal answer to the question is this...............One of the most entertaining and fun experiences I had in a very long time!!!!!!
Last night, I attended the 8:30pm IMAX 3D showing at an AMC theater 20 minutes from my house. It was me, my uncle, and my friend, Kevin in the auditorium. I was actually kinda nervous that night because I was hoping that Zack Snyder will be able to construct a well-balanced story with a title called "Batman v Superman." I was also thinking on how much screen time I will watch Bats going up against Sups for. But, MY GOD!!!! I think Zack almost outdone himself with this fantastic tale of two legends in the DC World.
First of all, I need to comment on Ben Affleck's portrayal as Bruce Wayne/Batman because everyone is going to yell at me if I don't mention him. I had this thought in my head: "OK! Mr. Affleck has big boots to fill in because Christian Bale is my favorite soul to play the hardcore character to date." Then, I came to a conclusion that Ben Affleck owned the role as Bruce Wayne/Batman. The reason I say that is because I was able to fully understand why he was so unhappy about the destruction Superman caused in Metropolis during the events of "Man of Steel."
I also did cared on how he was going to settle this devastating event, along with his partner, Alfred (played by Jeremy Irons) who was incredible. He owned that role and I was actually fighting with Michael Caine and Jeremy Irons as the best actor to play Alfred. However, I do think Mr. Caine takes the cake over Mr. Irons in my eyes.
Speaking of Superman, Henry Cavill was also really good as well. I don't think I need to go in depth with his character already, but I also do cared on how he was going to settle this horrific event with Bruce. So, props to you, Superman for giving another great performance!!!!
Also, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman? She was a bad-ass and she is probably the perfect choice to play the strong heroine. As soon as I saw her on the silver screen, I got the goosebumps growing on my skin. Gal Gadot, I can't wait to see you again in your stand alone film next year!!!
The one thing that I agreed with Evan was the fact that the first act of Batman v Superman was a tense political thriller, involving the jeopardies of Superman causing so much chaos around Metropolis. To top that off, Bruce Wayne also became involved with the case and he has to speak with him about this huge threat. I thought that the first half was handled extremely well in terms of how Zack Snyder presented the events on screen. Then, when it comes to the EPIC showdown of Batman challenging Superman during the second half, it was PHENOMENAL!!!! The fight choreography looked brilliant in terms of the cinematography and especially the sound effects. When I was watching the battle, I felt EVERY SINGLE FUCKING PUNCH that the two opponents threw at each other. They reminded me of the first fight with Bane against Batman in "The Dark Knight Rises."
And the music by Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL and the visual effects? Do I need to explain myself on why the score and visuals for the film were amazing? Well, here. THEY WERE AWESOME!!!! In fact, the IMAX really did help out! I can't wait to pick up my physical copy of the music, so that I can listen to it in my car!!
And last, but certainty least, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor? All I gotta say to him is this, "You're better than that!" I felt like he was playing himself and being too over the top, surpassing Kevin Spacey's cartoony portrayal. Now, I do like Jesse Eisenberg as an actor. I thought that he was fantastic in The Social Network. But as Lex Luthor in BvS? BIG NO to him. He didn't really stood out to me as the main antagonist. That's one of the biggest criticisms I can find.
Here are my final flicking thoughts on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice!!!! This is definitely one of the best nights I've ever had in my life. I was shoving a large popcorn with butter, a box of Tostitos bite-size chips with the cheese dip, and a bottle of water into my face while I was enjoying this superhero thrill ride as a fanboy of these two legends. Despite having the flaws with the movie, I just can't deny the fact this was one of the best movie theater experiences I had in a very long time.
Grade: A-
Here's the true story on my reactions to the film, along with my uncle and my friend, Kevin!! After the movie ended, I turned over to my uncle and I said, "You know what? I do think that the critics are definitely wrong on this one. What do you think?" Then, my uncle responded, "Yeah. I can agree with you, buddy!!" In the end, we had such a great time at the movies!!!
But, oh boy!! Get ready for this one, guys!!! This is the part of the review where things are about to get very dark and eerie. Well, not really eerie, but you get the point. haha. When Kevin and I were walking through the hallway and then out of the auditorium together, Kevin actually said this to me, "WOW! I gotta say that I really really really..........hated it!!" Man, he went to the dark side, folks. Then, I was like, "Whaaa? Really? Why?" I told you that things are going to get very interesting. lol.
One thing I can say right now is that this is already the most divisive film of all time!!!
