LAMB dances with various intriguing ideas and themes but fails to truly capitalize on the majority of them, unable to decide what it wants to be. Instead, it subtly chips away until a sudden climax hits that seems as if it serves only to shock and baffle audiences.
It can’t be denied that Johannsson is a talented creative. He builds a cold, calm atmosphere that smartly makes the strange premise stick out like a sore thumb in all the right ways.
However, while a clearer, more committed vision could have built on the premise at an angle that would have delivered something great, a poorly executed tonal balancing act results in a film with a muted impact. It’ll leave you wanting far more than what was ultimately offered.
