Spun-off of my Movies with Weird Gimmicks list, this is a showcase, hoping to be comprehensive, of movies that make significant use of rotoscope animation.
Rotoscoping was originally a technique created in early animation to speed up the process of animating characters by filming a live-action actor and tracing over each frame of their actions. It was used in many early Disney features and in contemporary animated shorts, and is perhaps most widely known as the stylistic feature of many Ralph Bakshi movies (though he himself hates the technique and only did it due to lack of budget). Now, using rotoscope animation is much easier thanks to computers and is used mainly for its interesting effect on films that would otherwise be normal live-action films.
This does not mean all movies that use any rotoscope animation since tons of animated movies will use it in parts, but when the rotoscoping is a significant stylistic factor.
