Definitely too long for a Saw movie but this was so funny it almost completely made up for it. Definitely more gruesome than Spiral and it felt really good to have Kramer back. I hope we get back to a time where we can get one of these a year and they’re all this fucked up and the storyline can get even more complicated.
At work we were supposed to hand out these little bags with a mystery action figure of a character from this movie to kids coming to see the movie, except we got a batch of only Ryder figures for some reason and the look of disappointment on the faces of all 5 girls that went to one showing that opened 5 Ryder figures in a row was a little sad but also hilarious.
It was more entertaining than the movie was, at least.
Also I think Skye has suffered more than any other character in fiction she was going through it during this movie.
It’s just an excuse to test some fucked up gore effects, which is fine. However, it’s also so insanely boring I fell asleep, woke up, rewound the movie, and then fell asleep again. At least the Saw movies have a little guy and a bizarre story. This movie had nothing but a few cool looking effects.
This movie looked beautiful. The cgi, cinematography, ultra-wide radio, all of it was gorgeous. If you have any desire to see it, see it in a theater because if you miss your chance, it’ll look bad on a TV and you’ll be missing out on the only positive of this movie. It’s not like the movie is necessarily bad, it just never went below the surface of its’ themes and didn’t have a good enough script to really make this the new sci-fi classic it so desperately wants to be.
