Still feels a bit overplayed with the whole narration and general noir pastiche, but Black’s able to set a rock solid foundation here for what he would make feel so loose and effortless in The Nice Guys. RDJ and Kilmer have a great little rapport and share some really solid zingers. Also, stop calling this a Christmas movie.
