TheFabs’s review published on Letterboxd:
So painstakingly meticulous in its presentation that the film’s sheer existence on screen is almost as unnerving as the subject matter it’s focusing on. I really felt thrown into the middle of it all, and found myself trying to connect dots along the way for most of the run time, right alongside our protagonists. Another standout performance from Gyllenhaal and, as always, Fincher shooting a hell of a film with near hyperfocus brings the whole package together. The near 3 hours of chasing leads did wear me down a bit near the end as a lot of the talking points began to mush together in my head, but as far as authenticity and attention to detail goes, I don’t think I’ve seen a better crime procedural than this one.
