I enjoyed it. Tom Hardy was the best part; his reactions to the symbiote’s antics are great and funny at times. Everyone else is either fine (Michelle Williams), blah (Riz Ahmed), or completely miscast (Jenny Slate).
The film definitely captured the dark spirit and humor of Venom better than any other cinematic attempt. And the touches of horror were used very effectively. But Spider-Man’s presence was sorely missed. Sony really needs to just admit defeat and let Marvel Studios run with Spider-Man and his ancillary characters, including Venom.
